MARRIED 8 MONTHS BUT SO UNHAPPY
Dear Coleen
I have been married for eight months. We decided to tie the knot after we had our baby even though the pregnancy wasn’t planned.
My biggest problem is that I still love my ex, who is a good man and very different from my husband.
The break-up with my ex wasn’t an ugly one, but he decided he just wasn’t ready for a serious relationship.
I am so unhappy in my marriage and I don’t know what to do. I actually just wish I were alone instead of married.
Coleen says
Well, that’s what you should do then – spend some time on your own to decide how you feel and what you want.
But don’t make the mistake of starting anything with your ex.
Maybe the main reason he’s so appealing is because your marriage isn’t working out and you’ve realised you married in haste.
What’s more, your ex has been clear that he doesn’t want a serious relationship, so he’s unlikely to have changed his mind.
It sounds like you married on the rebound, but if you’re truly unhappy and want to leave your husband, then don’t let pride or embarrassment get in the way.
It’s better for everyone to walk away now than stay in a relationship you know isn’t right.
