LANCE STROLL has hit back at Jacques Villeneuve, claiming the former world champion has it in for him.

Villeneuve, the 1997 world champion, has previously labelled fellow Canadian Stroll the “worst rookie in the history of F1”.

And he said recently that Stroll’s Williams team had “sold their soul to the billions of Lawrence Stroll, who only cares about his son”.

But Lance Stroll, 19, responded: “I don’t pay too much attention to what he’s saying. It’s always going to be negative anyway.

“He never supported me in every sense of the word. He only sees the negative.”
