£37m illegal sex pills boss jailed for year
A CROOKED businessman who distributed up to £37million worth of an unlicensed cheap version of Viagra was jailed for a year.
David Pearson, 59, put as many as 2.9 million packs of eight Kamagra tablets, sold online for £13, on the UK market.
Officials seized 11 consignments, usually from Mumbai, with one containing 437,600 tablets intercepted at Heathrow.
A judge told Pearson, of Eaglescliffe, Co Durham, he was “only interested in significant profits, whatever the risk to others”.
The courier firm boss claimed to be an unknowing carrier and denied distributing without a licence, and possessing and acquiring criminal property. He was convicted at Teesside crown court.
