£1 tourist tax plan by Bath
BATH could become the first city in the UK to introduce a tourist tax similar to those in Europe.
Councillors want hotel guests to pay an extra £1 a night, which would rake in around £2.4million a year.
Labour’s Robin Moss said: “Most European cities have it. It would bring in much needed revenue.”
The plans would need government approval.
Nearly six million visitors flock to the Somerset city – famed for its Roman baths – every year.
