Family’s bid to block new stadium over lack of light
A MILLIONAIRE ex-banker is holding up Chelsea’s £1billion new stadium – insisting it will block light into his house.
Nicolas Crosthwaite is taking on billionaire Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and is refusing to back down.
Desperate Chelsea have offered him a six-figure sum to settle so they can proceed.
Mr Crosthwaite, 69, and his family have lived in their house – right next to Stamford Bridge, in West London – for the past 50 years. They claim
OWNER Abramovich the 60,000-seat stadium would cast a shadow over their £4million home.
In a letter to planning authorities his daughter Rose, 25, said: “My family have lived in Stamford Cottages for over 50 years and it is my home.
“It is acknowledged in the application that the sunlight and daylight will be seriously affected to five of our windows, namely living/family rooms and bedrooms by the walkway. It is deemed as having an unacceptable and harmful impact.”
She went on to plead with councillors to get Chelsea to change their plans.
The family – consisting of Nicolas, wife Lucinda, 59, Rose and Louis, 23 – took out an injunction against the development in May.
