BUXTON TELLS BURTON SOME HOME TRUTHS

- BY NICK LUCY

SCOTT HOGAN is hellbent on having the last laugh in Aston Villa’s ‘house of fun’ – and has urged Steve Bruce to leave it to him to get the goals that will fire them to promotion.

MOTM ROBERT SNODGRASS (VILLA) BURTON captain Jake Buxton realises his side will be relegated unless they sort out their woeful home form.

The Brewers have now lost nine out of their last 10 games at the Pirelli Stadium and are without a win there since September.

They are still only a point from safety, but Buxton (above) knows they will go down unless results there improve.

He said: “It’s tough. We knew we could’ve gone just three points behind QPR and dragged them into the situation. It was not to be.

“The league has not changed as much as we might have expected. But for us to stay up, to compete and take it down to the last couple of games, we have to sort out this home form.

“We have to pick up a win at home. We haven’t got a problem away, but it’s important to find our feet at home.”

Burton were still in this game at the break after Lloyd Dyer cancelled Aramide Oteh’s first career goal for QPR.

But Rangers took all three points with Conor Washington and Massimo Luongo both scoring late goals.

Oteh, 19, was a happy man after finding the net for the first time.

He said: “It’s a dream come true for me and my family to score my first goal. To win this game – one we needed to win – was amazing.

“It wouldn’t have meant anything to score and not win. This has given everyone a huge lift, but we need to keep it going.

“I’ve worked hard for this so it feels all the better for me.”
