Greening in Brexit warning as MPs pass withdrawal bill

- BY MIKEY SMITH

TORY Justine Greening broke ranks to warn Brexit would be “unsustainable” unless it worked for young people, just before MPs passed the withdrawal bill.

The former Education Secretary said future generations could overturn Brexit if it did not benefit them.

She said: “They will seek to improve or undo what we’ve done and make it work for them.” The bill passed easily by 324 votes to 295, but Shadow Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer warned Labour would watch “like hawks” to ensure MPs got a vote on the final deal. Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar earlier told the EU Parliament Brexit was a betrayal of those who fought for “European democracy” during the war. And European Commission boss Jean-Claude Juncker branded Brexit a “catastrophe” . He would be “happy” to help Britain find a way back into the EU in future.
