Ferguson on FA ‘shoot refs’ rap

-

THE FA have charged Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson for saying it would be a “good idea” to shoot referees after his side were denied a penalty.

The 45-year-old was annoyed when ref Andy Baines ignored appeals after James Coppinger went down in the box in the last minute of Saturday’s League One clash with Plymouth.

Ferguson has since apologised and claimed his comments were “tonguein-cheek” and a result of “frustration”.

It is alleged that his remarks were improper and/or brought the game into disrepute. Ferguson has until 6pm on Monday to respond to the charge.
