MP, CHANGE YOUR TUNE
# I see a Tory MP is clutching at straws in anticipation of gaining more votes by calling for schoolchildren to sing the national anthem (Mirror, Jan 16). Surely, it’s up to the head to decide on this?
Quite often God Save the Queen gets a poor reception at sports events, and rightly so.
We, the people, should decide what we want as a national anthem that’s representative of the country, and hopefully choose one that’s not about royalty. Our anthem is meaningless and should be shelved. Barbara Millner St Helens, Merseyside
