Rees-Mogg in ‘modest Brexit’ fury
ANGRY Jacob Rees-Mogg THE Tories’ Brexit split yawned even wider as Chancellor Philip Hammond called for only “very modest” changes in our relationship with Brussels.
His comments in Davos infuriated right winger Jacob Rees-Mogg – tipped as a future leader.
He blasted the “timid” approach of Theresa May’s government and its “cowering, terrified” negotiators.
Mr Hammond had praised industry leaders’ call for the “closest possible relationship between the EU and UK post-Brexit”.
He said: “We are taking two completely interconnected and aligned economies... and selectively moving them, hopefully, very modestly apart.”
