DONALD Trump was given an Arsenal shirt by his pal Piers Morgan, shortly after a half-hearted “sorry” for retweeting inflammatory videos by far-right Britain First.

The US President’s brazen blunder last year caused a rift with Theresa May.

But yesterday, pressured to recant by Morgan, he said: “If you are telling me they’re horrible, racist people... I would certainly apologise if you’d like me to.”

He told ITV’s Good Morning Britain he was unaware of Britain First’s background, insisting: “I knew nothing about them and I know nothing about them today other than I read a little bit.

“Perhaps it was a big story in the UK but in the United States it wasn’t.”

And brushing off moves to block his UK visit, he said: “A lot of the people in your country like what I stand for.” The billionaire, whose mother was Scottish, added: “The real me loves Britain. I love Scotland.” Asked about attacks on him, he said: “I don’t care. I don’t care.”

After presenting the number 45 shirt to the 45th President, Arsenal fan Morgan invited Trump to replace longserving manager Arsene Wenger “because he’d build a strong defensive wall, have an attacking philosophy and want to win big trophies at all costs”.

Mr Trump also tried to fix damage done by his America First inauguration speech. He told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland: “American first doesn’t mean America alone.”

Labour MP Stephen Doughty called the President’s words “a total nonapology from racist Trump”.

Yesterday Britain First deputy leader Jayda Fransen appeared in court in Belfast on a hate speech charge.
