Two glasses of wine does aid the brain
A COUPLE of glasses of wine a day really does help clear the mind.
The equivalent of two-and-a-half 150ml glasses daily was found to keep down inflammation in the brains of mice and flush way toxins linked to Alzheimer’s and dementia.
But mice exposed to the equivalent of 21 glasses a day over a long period experienced more brain inflammation, which impaired their cognitive abilities and motor skill.
Dr Maiken Nedergaard, of the University of Rochester Medical Centre in New York, said: “We have shown for the first time that low doses of alcohol are potentially beneficial to brain health.
“It improves the brain’s ability to remove waste.”
