ENTERTAINMENT

-

WARMING UP BBC hosts led by Clare Balding BBC1, 10.30am. BBC2, 7pm

THE mere mention of Team GB is enough to send chills down our spines, such is the enduring memory of the heady days of summer 2012.

BBC1, 10.35pm “Sur-sha like inertia”. Is it just me or does everyone on the telly seem to be called Saoirse at the moment? Fortunately, we’re learning how to pronounce it, and (Irish) Graham shouldn’t have any trouble.

Actress Saoirse Ronan (previously referred to as “that Irish actress from Atonement”) is on the show tonight, hopefully without the need for the explanatory name sign she once wore on the Ellen DeGeneres chat show to help out American viewers. She has been nominated for her third Oscar for her role in teen comedy movie Lady Bird.

Next to her on the red sofa are Eric McCormack and Debra Messing, who have been reunited for the smash revival of sitcom Will & Grace.

They are joined by comedian Rob Beckett, host of the surprising BBC singing hit, All Together Now.

There’s also live music from Keala Settle, who performs the Oscarnominated This is Me from The Greatest Showman.
