TV Lena: Years of agony that led to a total hysterectomy
GIRLS star Lena Dunham has revealed she has had a total hysterectomy after years of pain caused by endometriosis.
Lena, 31, who also created the hit US TV series, said she opted to have her cervix and uterus removed after “years of complex surgeries measuring in the double digits”.
The actress, who recently split from her long-term partner, musician Jack Antonoff, 33, wrote in Vogue magazine that she was looking at options when it comes to motherhood. “I may have felt choiceless before but I know I have choices now. “Soon I’ll start exploring whether my ovaries, which remain someplace inside me, have eggs. Adoption is a thrilling truth I’ll pursue.” During the op, she said some other complications were revealed. Endometriosis occurs when tissue that lines the uterus is found outside it.
