Government must act now to stop fires and save lives
EIGHT house fires a day are linked to home appliances.
That’s 60 homes a week going up in flames and lives put at risk due to unsafe products, such as washing machines, tumble dryers and fridge-freezers.
The Mirror has worked hard to highlight this issue and called for tough action from the Government – and we join it in saying, “Enough is enough”.
Product safety is a vital issue and, today, we launch our own campaign to “End Dangerous Products”.
It is unacceptable for manufacturers to leave potentially dangerous goods in people’s homes.
And we need to see action when companies are falling short – such as Whirlpool’s failure to remove the remaining one million fire-risk tumble dryers from homes.
The Government must act now to stop further devastating fires.
