Comic’s fans raise £17k for lad overnight

- BY JESSICA WALFORD

COMIC Jason Manford helped raise thousands overnight for a boy with Down’s syndrome to visit Disney World in Florida.

An online appeal for Alex Jones, 12, had raised £240 of the £12,000 needed.

Jason, 36, told fans on Friday: “Imagine if we got this kid’s appeal to £12k overnight and then I just deleted the posts about it.

“That family would wake up having gone from £240 to £12k with not a clue how! We could be charity ninjas!”

By morning the fund topped £17,000 and Jason deleted the post, writing: “Nothing to see here folks. #CharityNinjas”.

Alex’s mum Victoria, from Barry, Wales, said: “I am just gobsmacked. I’m going to private message him to say thank you.”
