Enough piffle Boris, give us some facts

-

WHEN will the Brexiteers accept that most of those who voted Remain in the referendum are democrats too and have reconciled themselves with the result and the vote to implement Article 50?

The majority of us don’t feel angry at the result, but at the lack of real information as to where we are going and how we get there.

Alarm bells are now ringing as we face the prospect of being harangued by the likes of serial liar Boris Johnson regaling us with false optimism without furnishing us with concrete facts, just bland rhetoric.

Can the Leave side not see the tide is turning and doubts are being voiced? The only certain thing that emerged from the referendum was the level of lies told on both sides.

We, the public, deserve better.

Noel Beresford, Bolsover, Derbys

# The weak and wobbly Theresa May should take note of the likes of Boris Johnson. At least he is standing up for Britain and the vast majority who voted to leave in the referendum, while she and the spineless David Davis do nothing as Barnier and co run rings round us. It is time we stood our ground in these negotiations because the EU needs us just as much as we need them. If they refuse to accept our terms, we need to walk away. We’ll be thankful for it in the long term. Trevor Smith, Barnsley South Yorks # So, Boris Johnson wants to heal the rift with an olive branch. Sorry, but the rift that divides this country, caused by his lies and deceit, is as wide as the divide between a rich man’s castle and a homeless person.

A second referendum, which opinion polls are showing an increased call for, could be an olive branch to Remainers if it relieves the country of the shambles this Tory Government are making of the Brexit negotiations.

KR Moreton, Draycott, Derbys

# France seems to be leading the way in making Brexit as difficult as possible. They’re not helping us, but then again why should they?

After all, what have we ever done for them except land hundreds of thousands of our young men on their shores to free them from the scourge of Nazi Germany.

Max Moscrop, Redbridge, Gtr London

# Many Brexiteers are older people like myself, but while they are living in the past, I live in the 21st century. I lived in London throughout the war and hated Hitler, but it did not make me hate all Germans or Europeans. It is stupid to give up one of our biggest trading partners because of long-held prejudices.

Alan McMillan, Brooks Green, West Sussex

# We will never earn respect from the EU in trade negotiations while we continue to cower in a corner, taking blow after blow. We must fight back because this is the only language that bullies understand. Churchill and Thatcher must be spinning in their graves. Brian Rushton Stourport-on-Severn, Worcs
