‘Drug trial helped me’

RETIRED lab manager Peter Breaden (below), was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010. After undergoing surgery, he took part in ESPAC-4 – a clinical trial funded by Cancer Research UK. “The combinatio­n of drugs I was given almost doubled the number of people surviving five years after the operation, compared to using one of the drugs alone,” explains dad-ofthree Peter. “It was very satisfying to take part in something so successful.”
