BEING disabled adds an average £570 a month to the cost of living, a study by the charity Scope found.

And the study revealed that for one in five disabled people, the cost of living rises by more than £1,000.

Scope called for an overhaul of medical assessments for Personal Independence Payments.

Scope’s Mark Atkinson said: “We need a rethink on how we tackle this issue.”
