DAVID DE GEA produced a world-class save to rescue Manchester United from

defeat in Spain.

De Gea, back in his homeland, defied belief with his outrageous 45th-minute stop at point-blank range to deny Luis Muriel. The Sevilla striker looked certain to score just before the break, but somehow De Gea got his right hand to the ball and palmed it

FROM BACK PAGE away. Former United defender Rio Ferdinand (above) said: “It was unreal. He’s been doing that for years now. I celebrated like it was a goal for United.” The save was so remarkable even Muriel congratulated De Gea as the players left the pitch at the end of the first-half. De Gea said of his save: “They had the best chances of the game. It was in the last minute of the first half, so it was an important moment of the game. I made a save and I’m happy for that.”

But United legend Paul Scholes said: “He’s the best around, there’s no doubt about that. It’s not as if it just hits him – he has actually moved his hand towards the ball from three or four yards.

“He must have saved the team so many points this season, he’s been probably player of the season again.”

Paul Pogba was benched by Jose Mourinho, but called into action after just 17 minutes to replace Ander Herrera, who suffered a hamstring injury.
