SEAN OF THE DEAD CERT

-

SOUTHAMPTON manager Mauricio Pellegrino is backing Sean Dyche to land one of the Premier League’s plum jobs.

Dyche has taken unfancied Burnley to seventh place in the table and Pellegrino saluted their doggedness under their no-nonsense gaffer. Former Liverpool star Pellegrino, whose struggling Saints travel to Turf Moor today, said when asked if Dyche could go higher: “Why not? To work at this level you have to be really well prepared and Burnley are a really competitive team.

“There’s not a lot of difference in the Premier League between a defeat and a victory. Sometimes momentum is important. Sometimes one player is better in one moment but for me Burnley are really well organised. He is a really good manager but all the managers in this league are top class.”

Saints are in the relegation zone after winning only five league games all season, two against WBA. Pellegrino said: “The fans have to be behind us.”
