Welby: Weak are ‘crushed’
TORY austerity is “crushing the weak” and Brexit has split the country, the Archbishop of Canterbury warned yesterday.
In a downbeat verdict on society, Justin Welby said there is a risk of a “schism” into which the most vulnerable are falling.
The Anglican leader urged Britons to be generous to migrants and care more for each other.
He said: “We need a new narrative, rooted in solidarity, courage, aspiration and resilience.”
