Groves: I will shoulder on

-

GEORGE GROVES is likely to be granted the delay he wants to the final of the Muhammad Ali Trophy to allow him to recover from shoulder surgery.

Groves had an operation yesterday on the shoulder he dislocated in his semifinal win over Chris Eubank Junior and won’t be fit for the scheduled date for the final (June 2) against Callum Smith.

He has requested a one-month delay and organisers are likely to agree. Groves said yesterday on Twitter: “This morning I go for a minor op on my shoulder so I’ll be fighting fit for the final in July.”
