Five goes wild across Britain

-

As it tries to move more upmarket, Channel 5 has announced new natural history shows that sound intriguing.

There’s Wild Britain, an eight-part “bold and ambitious” wildlife series, voiced by Hugh Bonneville, that explores the outer reaches of Britain to find its wonderful and often hidden wildlife.

Filmed over a year, it captures more than 100 stories.

Nocturnal Britain, which sounds like it’s influenced by BBC’s Springwatch, will have three presenters and looks at the lives of Britain’s animals over three nights.

More than half of all wildlife activity takes place at night, and the series will use new lowlight camera technology to reveal what creatures get up to in woods, fields, gardens, zoos and rescue centres the length of Britain.

Ben Frow, Channel 5 director of programmes, said: “These commissions underline our ambition to deliver high quality and innovative programming.”
