MP: Rename entrance for hero PC Keith
AN MP yesterday called for a Parliament entrance to be renamed after the hero policeman killed there in last year’s terror attack.
Labour’s Matt Western raised an Early Day Motion signed by 113 MPs for Carriage Gates to be renamed Palmer Gates.
He said the move would mark PC Keith Palmer’s “gallantry and sacrifice”.
Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom said events would be held for the one-year anniversary on March 22 and he should write to her or the Speaker about renaming the gates.
Khalid Masood, 52, drove a car into people on Westminster Bridge before entering Parliament’s forecourt via Carriage Gates.
He stabbed PC Palmer, 48, before being shot dead.
