It is very exciting to have Marcella back on ITV. In this series, the quirky Metropolitan Police detective is on to yet another gruesome case, yet there are moments when she doesn’t seem to know what’s going on and forgets what she’s done.
The new storyline is close to home for her as it involves her son’s school friend. A gripping series and brilliant acting by the lovely and very talented Anna Friel, above. Heather McEwen, Norwich
There are no holds barred in BBC1’s new crime/ comedy daytime drama Shakespeare & Hathaway. It’s fun trying to work out which Shakespeare play each episode is loosely based on and I like the partnership between Luella Shakespeare and Frank Hathaway played by Jo Joyner and Mark Benton. It’s definitely not a comedy of errors and deserves an evening slot. Jennifer Gibson, Penrith, Cumbria
I think Joe Tate’s right-hand man in Emmerdale, Graham Foster, left, is very well played by Andrew Scarborough. He’s a tough, no-nonsense guy – and just right for the job. J A Brewer Cleckheaton, West Yorks
