You’d be forgiven for missing out on the Bayonetta series of hack-and-slash games as they’ve lacked the recognition they deserve.

But now that two games have been packaged together for the successful Nintendo Switch, there’s very little excuse.

In both titles, you take the role of Bayonetta, a witch who fights various demonic and angelic enemies using a combination of melee attacks, gunfire (pistols can be fired from hands and feet) and a range of special moves that see you courting the assistance of demons with your magical hair. They’re incredibly wacky games, with fairly nonsensical plots, but Bayonetta’s gameplay is the best work of its developer, the renowned Platinum Games. If you like pure action, you can’t get any better than Bayonetta 1 & 2 on the Switch.
