Toni’s off to a flyer
TONI DUGGAN wants to make sure Lionel Messi knows her name.
The England winger, who moved to Barcelona last summer, got Phil Neville’s reign off to the perfect start with the opener in the 4-1 thumping of France in the She Believes Cup.
Duggan said: ”I have met Messi. He said I could have a picture with him. He was nice, dead smiley and stuff.
“But he spoke Spanish and I am a Scouser so the conversation didn’t go too far. I had my name on my shirt so hopefully he remembers it!”
It has been a tough 12 months for the Lionesses after the sacking of boss Mark Sampson, but Duggan reckons thrashing France proves they are pulling in the same direction.
She added: “It has been a difficult year but we are delighted to be in this position now.”
Germany are next up tomorrow and despite their defeat to the USA on Thursday, they will pose a much stronger test.
