THE WILDEST MAN ON THE PLANET
DEONTAY WILDER is styling himself on Mike Tyson after claiming Anthony Joshua is avoiding him because he is “the baddest man on the planet”.
Wilder, who stopped the previously-unbeaten Luis Ortiz in 10 rounds to defend his WBC heavyweight title in New York (right), claims Joshua is running from him.
The undefeated American, who now has 39 stoppages from his 40 victories, said when asked about Joshua: “I’m ready now. I’ve always said that I want to unify. My goal is to unify and I’m ready whenever those guys are. “It seems like they aren’t in a rush to fight me because I am the most dangerous man in the world. I am the baddest man on the planet and I proved that tonight. “This has solidified my position at the top of the food chain and soon there will be one champion, one face, one name... and he goes by the name of Deontay Wilder.”
The 32-year-old, who will be ringside for Joshua’s unification clash with WBO champ Joseph Parker at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on March 31, says the Kiwi can upset the WBA Super and IBF king.
“I think Parker has a 100 per cent chance of winning that fight,” said Wilder (right). “He has to be smart and stick with the game-plan.”
