Pat’s got that sinking Phelan

- IAN HYLAND

Sometimes my desperate desire for Harry Hill to bring TV Burp back can lead to hallucinations.

Take last night’s Corrie. As Pat Phelan’s vibrating mobile phone slid down that scaffolding plank, I could have sworn the camera panned up to a smirking Harry nudging the phone with an invisible rod.

Burp is never coming back, more’s the pity. Harry would have a field day as Phelan ended up trapped in fresh cement.

Pat had even started the day with a portentous warning to Eileen: “I’m going to be up to my eyes doing those foundations.”

I was so busy laughing at the ridiculousness of it all I didn’t start asking questions until much later.

Such as: Why weren’t we shown paramedics hauling Pat out? One minute he was in the ready mix, the next in the back of ambulance.

And why did Pat climb down to retrieve his phone at all? Talk about being dependent on your mobile...
