COOPER IS LIONS KING

-

Hull 1 Millwall 2 BY MIKE WHALLEY

ABEL HERNANDEZ ended more than six months of injury misery with a comeback goal – but could not save Nigel Adkins from his first home defeat as Hull boss.

The Uruguay striker came on as a second-half sub to play for the first time since snapping his Achilles tendon in August, and swept in a Harry Wilson free-kick from close range with 11 minutes left.

It might have made a difference had Hull not started so badly – as George Saville needed just 51 seconds to nip on to Lee Gregory’s backheel and set Millwall towards a fifth straight away league win.

Jarrod Bowen hit the bar for Hull, but centre-back Jake Cooper headed in a second for the Lions from Ben Marshall’s corner before the break to increase Adkins’ relegation fears.
