Tough rules for domestic abuse blitz
THOUSANDS could be hit with booze bans and electronic tags for up to a year in a major crackdown on domestic abuse.
Tough civil orders will boost the rules police and social workers can impose on those who torment partners or spouses.
A consultation on the plans is published today and PM Theresa May said they have the potential to “transform the way we tackle domestic abuse”.
Justice Secretary David Gauke said: “The damage caused by domestic abuse can last a lifetime. We have a duty not only to support those affected but prevent others falling victim.”
