- BY TOM BRYANT Head of Showbiz

STARS and fans told of their sadness yesterday after iconic music mag NME announced its last print edition after 66 years.

Paul Weller, Lily Allen, Kasabian and Danny Baker were among those who paid tribute. Fans shared their favourite NME covers on social media.

The magazine, which was launched in 1952 and went free in 2015, will continue online. The last print issue is out tomorrow.

Paul Cheal, of publishers Time Inc, said: “We have reached a point where the free weekly magazine is no longer financially viable.”

The Libertines band said on Twitter: “Very sorry to hear about the NME. Love to all the writers who’ve helped us, and to all of you that picked up a copy.”
