JESUS INJURY HAUNTING HIM

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

GABRIEL JESUS has admitted he fears a recurrence of the injury that sidelined him for two months.

The Manchester City striker suffered a broken metatarsal in a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve.

He made his first start of 2018 in City’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Basel on Wednesday, scoring the opener for his first goal since November 18.

But Jesus, 20, (above) admitted he is playing with fear as he bids to get back to full fitness and sharpness after missing 15 games.

“When you’re in the game, without wanting it, you end up thinking about the previous game where you got injured,” he said.

“I think I still played with some fear and there are some movements where I am still afraid of getting injured again.

“But I know that, as you play more and more, that fear is going to go away away and you can play your football as you did before.”
