CELTS FIRM UP THEIR TITLE GOAL

- BY IAN BAKER

TEN-MAN Celtic twice came from behind to seal a stunning 3-2 Old Firm derby win at Rangers.

The Gers had led through Josh Windass and then Daniel Candeias but each time Brendan Rodgers’ side replied thanks to goals from Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele.

But despite having Jozo Simunovic dismissed, Celtic won it through Odsonne Edouard to all but seal the Scottish Premiership title.

Rodgers said: “The players showed their quality and that real champion mentality.

“It’s a big step for us to go nine points clear with a game in hand, but we still have a lot of work to do.

“It was an absolutely brilliant win and a great day for the supporters.”

Celtic got off to a nightmare start as Dedryck Boyata gave the ball away and Windass nipped in to score after three minutes.

Rogic levelled with a cracker from distance before Candeias capitalised on more poor Celtic defending to put Rangers back in front.

Dembele (above, celebrating with Scott Brown) equalised for the Hoops though in first half stoppage-time with a clever finish over Wes Foderingham.

But on 56 minutes as Simunovic elbowed Alfredo Morelos and was handed his marching orders.

However Edouard’s curling shot gave the Green and White half of Glasgow glory even though Morelos missed a sitter late on, amazingly hitting the post with the goal gaping.

Rangers boss Graeme Murty said: “We’ve managed to throw it away.

“I’m immensely frustrated for the fans and the players because we put ourselves in a right good situation.”
