Cave­men so kind & car­ing

NE­AN­DERTHALS sur­vived for 300,000 years be­cause of their com­pas­sion, re­search shows.

The study sug­gests the “cave­men” pro­vided health­care, in­clud­ing mas­sage, fever man­age­ment and good hy­giene.

Re­mains show they of­ten had in­juries and health prob­lems, which would have re­quired care.

Dr Penny Spikins, of York Univer­sity, said: “They just re­sponded to their feel­ings about see­ing their loved ones suf­fer­ing.”
