SUMMER’S HOT STUFF

Daily Mirror - - CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL -

SUMMERVILLE BOY spiked Kalashnikov’s guns for a dramatic win.

Tom George’s previous Cheltenham Festival winner was with Galileo — the Polish-bred gelding, not the super-stallion — in the 2002 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.

After watching the 9-1 shot get up in the final strides for a neck margin, the trainer said: “It’s taken a few years to come back here, but we’ve had plenty of Grade 1 winners over the years.”

A mistake at the second-last flight looked to have cost Summerville Boy dear, and George added: “He’s tough.”
