Sorry state if Ed can’t be himself
ALONG with Eddie Jones himself, the Rugby Football Union are apologising to their Irish and Welsh counterparts after it emerged England’s head coach once referred to Wales as a “little s*** place” and described the Irish as “scummy”. Fine. But when the RFU employed Jones (right), they employed him because, not only was he a top coach, but he was a bit of a larrikin, rough at the edges, unafraid to ruffle feathers. Not because he was some sort of diplomat.
All these formal apologies are becoming tedious.
The Jones the RFU hired would just say to anyone offended: “Look, sorry, mate.”
And that should be the end of it.
