COMIC DODD TICKLED ME

-

The death of Ken Dodd reminded us of a few things. That the 60s weren’t as swinging as they’ve been made out to be as his weepy ballad Tears was the third best-selling song of the decade. That there used to be a time when grown men could prance around on stage with children called Diddy Men titilating them with his tickling stick. And that we have reached the end of a golden chapter in British comedy. All those magnificent National Service comedians like Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper, Frankie Howerd, Benny Hill, Eric Morecambe, Ronnie Barker, Ronnie Corbett, Bob Monkhouse, Spike Milligan and Doddy are gone. What a list of legends. How tickled we were.
