Zehra Dogan was reportedly sentenced to nearly three years in her homeland Turkey for her painting of a city there that was damaged by state security forces.
Banksy’s mural in New York shows Zehra’s face behind bars – the last bar being a pencil. The anonymous British artist said in a statement: “I really feel for her. I’ve painted things much more worthy of a custodial sentence.”
