ENGLISH clubs’ six-year domination of the European Cup ended as holders Aston Villa and League Champions Liverpool both crashed out in the quarterfinals. Michel Platini struck twice for Juventus as they defeated Villa 3-1 for a 5-2 aggregate victory. Liverpool beat Widzew Lodz 3-2 at Anfield, but it wasn’t enough after they had lost the away leg 2-0 in Poland.
