Rams feel chill over TV call-off
LEAGUE bosses have asked Derby County to explain how Sunday’s promotion clash with Cardiff was called off – as police revealed they had NO say in the decision.
Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock branded the situation “scandalous”, after his side’s live TV game with the injury-plagued Rams was cancelled, despite a perfectly playable pitch and the roads around Pride Park clear of snow.
On Derbyshire Police’s official Twitter account, they said: “Derby took the decision to postpone the match due to the weather conditions and the health and safety of people travelling to the ground.
“The club made this decision independently.”
League chiefs have asked both clubs for their observations on the row, which angered 2,600 travelling Bluebirds fans.
Cardiff chief executive Ken Choo said: “I am in dialogue with the EFL to determine exactly why the game was postponed and how that decision was reached.”
Derby insist they followed correct procedures, saying: “The decision was fully supported by the independent safety advisory group.”
