17hr flight to Oz non-stop

A NEW record non-stop passenger flight from the UK takes off on Sunday.

The daily 5.05am Qantas service from Heathrow to Perth lasts 17 hours and covers 9,009 miles.

The flight, using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, is three hours shorter than those that stop to refuel.

Qantas said it would make travel Down Under “much more attractive”.

The 9,025-mile Qatar Airways service between Doha and Auckland is the world’s longest regular run.
