ALEX: IT’S ALL ABOUT BEING IN IT

Scotland v Costa Rica 7.45pm

ALEX McLEISH says another World Cup humiliation would be good news – as it would at least mean Scotland had qualified for the tournament.

The Scotland boss begins his second term in office tonight as his new-look side take on Costa Rica at Hampden with only around 20,000 tickets sold.

It’s the first time Scotland have faced Costa Rica since McLeish’s playing days, when they crashed to a humiliating 1-0 loss at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

McLeish (above) said: “On reflection, we’d take a result like that to be at a major tournament. That’s our goal, to get to finals. We have to work hard.”
