The House
The Durrells is filmed in Danilia Village, which is near Kontokali on the east coast of the island.
Danilia is actually a replica of how a traditional village in Corfu would have looked back in the 30s.
The village, which is owned by Grecotel Hotels & Resorts, one of the most upmarket hotel groups in Greece, was also used as a location for the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, starring Roger Moore as 007.
The Durrell house is on the coast away from the village and, although it looks glorious from the outside, it is pretty dingy inside and is also completely uninhabitable, with no electricity.
The interior shots are actually filmed back in London at Ealing Studios.
