Family hit out at 10-year jail term for killer
THE family of a British woman killed by her newspaper editor husband in Dubai said “justice has not yet been done” after he was jailed for 10 years.
Francis Matthew, 61, ex-editor of Gulf News, bludgeoned Jane, 62, to death with a hammer in July last year then claimed robbers had killed her.
During later questioning he allegedly told police she had grown angry and called him “a loser” because they were in debt and had to move. They had been married for 30 years.
Jane’s family were “saddened” by the decision of a judge in the Gulf State not to jail him for longer.
They said: “We believe the facts clearly demonstrate this was a deliberate act. He made no attempt to call an ambulance.”
