Make Britain fur free, says rocker May
BRIAN May has called on Theresa May to outlaw imports of fur after Brexit.
The Queen guitarist, 70, said yesterday it “has no place in a decent society”.
He joined animal campaigners to hand over a 400,000-name petition at 10 Downing Street.
The star added: “In light of the appalling cruelty in the production of fur, it’s time to make a stand.
“Fur that did not grow on us has no place in a decent society.”
Fur farming was made illegal here in 2000 but more than £650million worth has since been imported from countries such as China and Poland because EU rules prevent the UK from banning it.
Fur Free Britain said: “We hope Mrs May will take decisive action.”
