Grammars ‘hurt society’

GRAMMAR schools should be scrapped because they damage social mobility but don’t improve results, a study says.

Grammars took only 2% of pupils eligible for free school meals, a sign of poverty, as opposed to 14% nationally, researchers at Durham University found.

They said the Tory’s policy of more selection in schools was a “danger” to equality in society.
