DOCUMENTARY
C4, 10pm Autism. The word is flung around by a lot of people, many of whom don’t really understand what it means. You may even have concerns that you or someone you know is on the spectrum.
This challenging documentary, hosted by young campaigners Georgia Harper and Sam Ahern – who both have autism – and Anna Richardson, whose nephew has recently been diagnosed, investigates a condition that is at an all-time high in the UK.
Experts believe we have a “diagnosis crisis”, with a lost generation of adults who never realised they were autistic.
Shedding light on what autism really means, there are some fascinating tests here, including an online study of more than 750,000 people.
Georgia and Sam are also keen to shatter myths, such as everyone having Rain Man-like superpowers.
And two adults, 35-year-old mum of three Jo, and 38-year-old musician JP, volunteer to be tested. “I’ve always felt different,” admits JP.
