Penalty is tickety-boo

IT is so expensive to park in parts of Edinburgh that it is cheaper to get a fine than pay for a whole day.

In February, the hourly rate for on-street parking rose 11% to £4.20 an hour, meaning it costs £33.60 for an eight-hour day, though you have to move the car every three hours.

But a £60 ticket is reduced to £30 if you pay within 14 days, making it the cheaper option.
